Needle’s Blaze - Arson Suspected

Sunday 3 October 2010

The fire at Needle’s Custom Tailoring and Alterations is just another in a string of fires that have dotted the Chicago skyline of late. Why this simple little shop was targeted is unclear, but seamstress and aspiring singer Leor Tobias was an unwilling victim. Braving the flames, Tobias tried to save her pearls and feather costume.

Cesar Fontana, a Chicago resident, was walking past when he saw the woman brave the flames and attempted to stop her. “She was intent on getting in there, “ Fontana said, rubbing a bruised jaw.

The blaze was put out by Doc Kiranov, who works in all capacities as Chicago’s Emergency Services Commissioner. “The investigation showed extensive damage to the first floor,” Kiranov said. “Indications are arson , with an ongoing investigation as to the persons responsible.”

Local business man, Mike Mapp expressed his concerns over the rash of fires. "It would be a shame if the person or people responsible for this fire ended up getting away."

Needle’s owner David Valentino added "We'll find the bastards that did it and make them pay!" On plans for the future of Needles, Valentino only added, "We ain't going out that easy.”
